Matt Miller - Camp Director

A little piece of “the Miller story…”

Through life’s journey, it is amazing to see how God prepares us for what’s next. I grew up in Canfield, just outside of Youngstown.  I have always loved this area and enjoy so much of the rich heritage and relationships that feel so much like home.  My wife and I met working at a summer camp 15 years ago and became friends while serving on staff together.  We have always dreamed of having camp be our life.  Shortly after graduating college with a Christian Education and Youth Ministry degree from Taylor University, I took a job as a youth pastor. I was there for 2 years and was then recruited by a friend to work for Youth for Christ in Michigan.  We married 2 years later and spent a lot of time pouring into the lives of the teens in our town.  (At the time my wife was working for a crisis pregnancy center and as a substitute teacher in the local middle and high school)  Between us we seemed to know every teen in our small town.  One of the best things about that time was working with a great team of people that really cared about youth.  I was primarily responsible for planning trips and large events.  I was also invited to lead some of the first few years of YFCamp. Great stuff happened there as always does in the camp setting.  Soon we found out we were going to be parents and choose to take a break from working with students while we moved closer to our families. So I spent a number of years working in the trades locally which has given me many opportunities to build relationships all around the greater Youngstown area.

God has used both my ministry experience and work outside of full time ministry to refine me and make me aware of my passions. I love the outdoors, but most of all, I love being a part of something God is moving in and through for His purpose.
